Our Christian Values

The Christian Value we are exploring this half term is      Hope

Our Christian Value for this half term is HOPE.  In the Bible it tells us that the Kingdom of God 'is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all the seeds on earth.  Yet, when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants'.

At St. John's we believe that we are like mustard seeds, we can achieve our hopes and dreams by working hard, nurturing one another and putting our trust in God.

We:

  • have hopes for ourselves on a daily basis.
  • have hopes for our family and friends.
  • have hopes for our future, for example the job we want to get when we are older.
  • also have hope for our world.  We might have hope for people in a different country who we have never met before.

Matthew 13.31-32 new international version (NIU)

He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, though it is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches".

Celebrating our Christian Values

Each half term we celebrate one of our Christian Values and learn what they mean to us and others. Keep your eyes open for this half term's letter and enjoy being part of the celebrations with us. Children are also awarded 'Golden Tickets' if they display our Christian Values in their everyday school life. At the end of each week a winning golden ticket is pulled from the box and a special prize is given. At the end of each half term all golden ticket winners have a chance to take part in exciting, fun activities with Mrs Hill as a reward for being an outstanding member of our school community. Take at look at this half term's winners...
