Together in love, we learn with Respect, Hope,Friendship and Forgiveness

EYFS & YEAR 1 - Orange Class (Mrs Brunton)

RWI Phonics

Every day the children take part in a phonic session where they practise the above sounds and use these to read and write three letter words. Please practise recognising and writing these sounds with your child. In Year One the children will be learning the diagraphs below. We call these special friends with the children and teach them that the two sounds go together to make one new sound.

Red words

During phonics the children will be taught that there are some words that we can not Fred talk and just have to read on sight. The children will be shown the tricky part e.g. the silent e in the or the f that makes a different sound in of and then told what it says. They will practise reading and spelling these words during RWI. Please practise reading and writing these words at home.

If you have any questions regarding RWI phonics please speak to a member of the Reception/ Year One team either in person or you can send a message via Class Dojo.

Thank you for your support.

Homework Planner

Use these fun ideas to help you explore our new topic - Under the Sea! Don't forget to upload pictures of any of the activities you complete to Class Dojo. We love to see all of your fabulous hard work.

Every half term we learn about a new author. If your child has any Julia Donaldson stories at home we would love to share them as a class at story time.

Summer 2
