YEAR 2 - Indigo & Violet Classes

This half term our topic is...

 

Rumble in the Jungle!

 

We have been learning about two habitats, the Jungle and the Polar Regions.

We have been learning about...

  • Where these habitats are in our world
  • The weather
  • What we might see there
  • Plants and animals that live there
  • How animals are suited to help them live in their habitat
  • Famous explorers

 

We have also been reading 'The Jungle Book' by Rudyard Kipling.

 

Mrs Wilks and Miss Preston will set you a new task every day to help you to continue learning about our topic at home. We would love to hear how you are getting on with them by sending us a dojo message or photo of your work!smiley

Thursday 2nd April:

 

Imagine that you are an explorer and you are going to the Antarctic.

 

Write a list of the things that you would put in your backpack.

You can use numbers or bullet points in your list.

Lesson 4 - non unit fractions. Watch the video if possible.

 

A non unit fraction is more than one part of a whole like two quarters, three quarters and two thirds.

Draw a circle, square and rectangle. Can you fold or colour them to find two quarters, three quarters and two thirds?

Today's Phonics...

 

Free Read, Write, Inc Phonics lessons will be streamed on YouTube everyday for your child just as they would have at school.

 

They can practice their sounds and read some words with sounds in online.

Films will be available at the times below...

Things to keep practicing....

 

  • Read, Read, Read!!! Read your reading book, Phonics book (if you have one), library book or a book from home every day! Read it aloud to people in your family and challenge them to ask you questions about what you have read!
  • Practice your 10x, 5x, 2x and 3x tables! 
  • Practice joining up your handwriting! Can you make it even better before you come back to school?
  • Can you read and spell all of these tricky words?
